Thanks for the suggestion! I will keep that in mind when I test the Donic F2 rubber, since the X5 blade is laying around here without rubber.

I appreciate your post!

Hi Eddie,

I was searching through the web and found your blog. I am an amateur table tennis player as well who recently wrote a book about my quest to USATT 2000, which I reached in two years and 4 months of training.

I was wondering if you could post some information on your site about my book or perhaps just let you know that it is something you may enjoy reading.

Thanks,

Alex

I've played with this combo 2 or 3 times now. Doesn't look like I will stick with it. I don't know if it's the rubber or the blade, but feels like the sweet spot is very small. Sometimes I'll get a "crack" sound (that I really like), but most of the time it feels just average. One of my friends at Monday night tt mentioned to me that one's technique has to be very good to use Hurricane3... and I'm finding that he's probably right. I would like this combo better if... I were a better player, haha!
I can't seem to get enough arc on the ball close in, my shots often go off the table. When I'm back from the table, my loop technique has to be right on for the loop to do what I want it to do. And it's great when that happens... just doesn't happen often enough for me at my stage.

So I'll give this setup another week -- to make the test fair -- then see what I think. :-)

Update: The blade and rubbers were not yet glued together, so I was not able to test this combo out last night. I could have glued them there on the spot, since I always carry scissors and glue, but I didn't want to take time away from playing! So today I'll do the gluing, and have a robo pong session with the new setup. I'll report back later. :-)
